We are already at the New Moon in Leo of the year! After a month marked by the return to direct motion of Mercury in Gemini, but really completing its post shadow period in Cancer on its way to link with the Uranus-Pluto square, which we have been living through for the past 4 year. We are left with a new war on Israel-Palestine, military and passengers (M17) aircrafts shot down or lost, all of which remind us of the sign of Cancer and the need to defend our borders and our ‘home’? Theme that resonates and occur in other parts of the world as we all well know. We don’t seem to learn the lessons of the past, and dropping bombs on each other seems to be the only “no solution” to which we are still holding on to and each part with its well studied and heartfelt apologies for not sitting down to fix it in a more diplomatic and intelligent manner and exercise our “academic superiority” with respect to the other. What good does it do to progress both scientifically and academically if later we end up resorting to bombs?
It’s very nice to write about the maternal qualities of Cancer, and the feeling of the water sings, but the reality of the passage of Jupiter through this sign for the past 12 months, and now with Mercury in Cancer (the voice of the people, our land), in opposition to Pluto (power struggles and death) in square to Uranus in Aries (liberation from what oppresses us) have left us with many deaths, cyclones and floods, many wars and more deaths. The Grand Cardinal cross of the beginning of the year is certainly making us aware more than ever of the abuse of the dominant classes, the fact that the rich are becoming richer and all the others increasingly poorer. As well as the fact that 80% of the world is poor and corrupt and that nobody seems to know how to fix this either.
And now in a great effort not to sound negative, we have what should be this wonderful new moon in Leo, which peaks in conjunction to Jupiter (the great benefactor) recently established in this sign. But unfortunately, all of this links with a Mars just moved to Scorpio, today, after spending 8 months in Libra, which seemed to keep diplomatic efforts in action. Now the meetings of leaders eager to find a peaceful solution, will find the added tension between Leo (big egos) and Scorpio (revenge and death). The good news is that Saturn already about 17 degrees of Scorpio, forms a large trine to Mercury and Venus in Cancer and Neptune and Chiron in PISCES, which may somewhat counteract the high tension of the T-squares, but the large trine in Water, can be a little too “watery” in their efforts to find a solution to these conflicts. Venus in Cancer which also values the “home”, the “land of our ancestors”, opposes Pluto in Capricorn for this Lunation and of course connects with Uranus by square.
Is there something good in all of this? You may ask, and Yes. The wonders of a new moon in Leo, in conjunction to Jupiter, is without doubt, the possibility of finding a way to express our uniqueness, the extraordinary quality that makes us different from the others, despite belonging to a particular group. What is that that your psyche and your soul need to express, completely apart from your family and cultural conditioning, or the characteristics of “the land” in which you’ve born. It is here where we have a chance of surviving this nationalistic or cultural whirlwind. Who AM I besides belonging to this family, breed or particular tribe?. should i let myself be dragged by the ideas of the tribe, even when my heart asks for something else? The nationalist ground has more to do with Cancer. In Leo, we want to explore who we really are, besides..(being part of a particular tribe). Which is the Mission of my soul, if any, which is my personal Fate?, separate from that of my tribe or what is expected of me, in the place of birth?. What are my own ideologies? Must I be Christian, Muslim, Jewish, hindu, just because my ancestors? We know that if we rise to the place where all souls come together, the realm that some shamans call the North, Christians Heaven, the Greeks and myself the Olympus or the Underworld, then these differences blur and gradually cease to exist. In the “great soul”, every child who dies is the son of all of us, every woman who dies is the sister, mother and daughter of all of us, every man that dies is the father, brother and husband of everyone. The religious, national and tribal differences seem a distant and sad reminder of a separation which in reality does not exist. The question could be, do we keep throwing bombs to each other because we are manipulated by an elite that wants to sell weapons or because in some dark corner of our psyche, we are still in the jungle and we must protect ourselves from other predators and survive above all?
Last night I went to a creative event, which reminded me of the real importance of the message of the sign of Leo. In the mad rush of creativity, of connecting with what makes us unique, the importance of expressing it somehow, the risk that involves letting it out and sharing it with others and risking being criticizes, it is wonderful to watch the smile in the faces of the dancers, (in this particular case), at the end of the process, when after years, months or weeks of hard work and creativity, it is performed in what seems to be a second. When one realices that never mind how imperfect, or incomplete, whatever it came out, is part of you, to explore, to correct and perfect, to polish, or simply to share, to give to others who may or may not benefit from it. The Sharing is perhaps the most satisfactory part, when you see the reaction of others. Simply because sharing yourself is an act of Generosity, and Love and this is a supreme quality of the sign of LEO.
Use the energies of this new moon, to connect with your heart and investigate what more you have to give, to share with others which can help you be proud to be who you are and the possibilities you have. Don’t do anything that you may be embarrassed or regret later.
Even if you don’t paint or dance or play an instrument, every single action of your life, can be a choreography, a poem, a song. That’s Leo.oroszlan3

Here we are in the last Full Moon of the year 2012, and it falls in the sign of Cancer, the first water sign of the Zodiac, and symbol of the Great Mother and the myth of Eleusis. Cancer, among other things, represents the myth of the mother and the daughter, and the eternal struggle and separation between these two sides of the same coin.

All those with the Sun, the Moon or the Ascendant in Cancer live this eternal story of separation from Mother. In antiquity they only spoke of the mother and the daughter, when they referred to this myth, without giving a name to any of them. The archetype, was conceived as an only archetype consisting of two deities, they rarely made the difference if they were two gods or two goddesses, although everyone knew that it consisted of two female deities. Was Homer and before him, Pamphos, (according to Carl Kerenji) who first included the name of Persephone, as the name of the daughter, in a poem. Before that, when they referred to her, she was called the “Kore” or “the Maiden”. The name of Demeter (Ceres for the Romans), arose as well, as the “other” deity, older, therefore the image of the mother. The mother of the Earth, of the grain, of agriculture, of the daughter. The history of Eleusis, talks about a daughter who is “stolen” from her mother and then returned to her, only with a prior arrangement made between the God of the Underworld, Hades, (Pluto) and Demeter. The separation of the psyche of the mother, is the Fate of all Cancer, an inevitable journey for both Mother and Daughter.

This full moon, picks at about 7 ° of the angle Cancer-Capricorn, and therefore coincides with the Urano-Pluto square, since the Sun is in conjunction to Pluto which is now about 9 degrees of Capricorn and Juno, 3 ° of Cap. This constellation, including the Moon at 7 degrees of Cancer, form a T-square to Uranus, at about 4 degrees Aries 42′. Once again we find the theme of separation from the traditional. How to separate ourselves from that which gives us form and contains us? How to free ourselves from what we believe we need, to have some kind of order in our lives?. How do we separate or liberate ourselves of that, we worked so hard to maintain? Who will win, the strength of independence or tradition and the known order? How de we separate ourselves from mother? Perhaps the answer is a little in the middle. We only strive to make ourselves independent of what we believe different from us and maybe the solution lies in understanding that we are all one, and we can still operate independently of something bigger we belong to. That something that complements us, contain us, but without being absorbed by it, by that something which seems to want to govern us. we must respect the fact and the importance that both parties must exist for the maximum evolution for all parties. Whether the two parties are: mother-daughter, Republicans and Democrats, Spanish PP and PSOE, Professor and Students, Catalunya and Madrid, Big Companies and employees, etc.

We only have this illusion of the separation in order to learn faster, the different human possibilities. Everyone nourishes everyone. We all have something important and unique to contribute. We are ALL indispensable, and yet, nobody is. We are all the drops that form the ocean. No drops, no ocean, never mind how insignificant they seem to be.

With the asteroid Juno wrapped up in the full moon, by its conjunction to the Sun and Pluto, and opposition to the Moon, the theme of personal relationships, the power of the feminine, is a relevant topic for this lunation. Pallas Athena, at 26 degrees of PISCES, is also in a T-square to Mercury at 26º of Sagittarius, and Ceres to 24º of Gemini. By the way, if you go out to look at the sky now, you’ll see Jupiter, majestic next to the Moon, shining from Gemini. Vesta is located nearby, reminding us that the cry of the feminine, is heard deafening in human nature and we must respect it, to not awaken Lilith, or Medusa or Ereshkigal. The power of the dark side of the feminine is even more powerful and as in the case of Medusa, who turns to stone anyone who dares to look into her eyes. With only her own Reflection could her head be cut off, and avoid being petrified.

The mixture of these archetypes in a lunation and especially at the end of the year, a few days after the Solstice of winter and summer, reminds us that we must confron our own shadow, to grow, to recognize our own power, to be aware that there are things that should be changed, so that we can evolve, and let those the around us do their own evolution. Reclaiming our authority is another issue, as it is to learn to respect our chosen role, in the comedy/drama of our personal relationships. What role have we unconsciously accepted to play? are we getting tired of the role and calling for a change? We must accept that to make it happen, everything must change, not just a part. Nothing will be as it was and that’s OK. What does not change is destined to die.-In fact, everything is destined to die, including each one of us and we must also accept that. We must respect our own roles in our personal relationships, and understand that for the relationship to evolve, the roles of both parties must transform and evolve as well. While you are a mother, you’re mother and wife, or only mother, if you’re not with the father, but when the children leave, you’re not just mother any longer and that must also be respected.

Cancer, like most water signs, quickly learns that nothing remains the same for a long time, and if you’re one of those Cancer with much Leo in your chart or other fixed signs, then the fight for letting changes flow and keeping everything as it is, is exhausting. Change, always wins at the end and we must accept it or we are destined to die in life. We start to die, when change passes us by and we pretend that everything remains the same. Even if we don’t use Facebook or Twitter, we need to know what it is, or we have begun to die and disconnect from the changes that are happening. I give this example, only because that is very common. We cannot afford to ignore the changes and the advances of technology. But echoing this powerful Jupiter in Gemini, i feel we should be informed, to be able to continue to live life fully, instead of letting it pass us by.
Happy New Year to all of you from the bottom of my heart.

Here comes the Cancer New Moon of the year, with the Sun and the Moon in a tight square to Saturn located in the last degrees of Libra, just as Mars, also in Libra, forms an exact T-square to Uranus and Pluto, opposing Uranus and squaring Pluto. (if you haven’t you should read the article prior to this, on the full moon in Capricorn).
Mars in square to Pluto has the potential to generate great power struggles, and at the same time, Uranus in opposition to Mars, adds the element of surprise, with the intense need to break free of chains and rid oneself of anything or anybody that we feel is oppressing us.
These archetypes, when they act together, in each one of us and in the world, we find ourselves in need to solve conflicts and situations of great importance in our lives. On a personal level, different parts of our psyche get activated and we find contradictions in the depths of our being that we must armonize in order to have more inner peace. When we talk about archetypes is like talking about gods, and us, mere humans, cannot control the gods. Everything that has to do with Pluto, has to do with evolution, with the intense desire to perpetuate the specie, above all, our need to survive, not only individually but as a specie. This is the force with more power in our psyche and it comes from the depths of our being. When we speak of uranian energies, the need for freedom is so intense that at times we cannot control it, even if we risk the security that we need both emotional and financially, even if we risk jepardizing a position for which we have fought for years to achieve and sustain. Mars, the representative of our warrior spirit, is not necessarily a very intelligent God. Often in his passion for the fight, kill his own comrades, those who fight on his side. We too, when we are angry, we attack those who are on our side and do not even realize it. Reason, and rationalization, of the human being, has little or no power over these challenging energies that drive us to do things that we cannot handle. Even those psychologically or spiritually aware, can be and are often dominated by these forces far more powerful than our feeble reason, at some point in our lives.
Our sexuality, which enters the domain of Pluto and Mars is one of these energies that we have not yet learned to “handle”. No matter how elevated is the man in his journey to reason, to goodness and spirituality, this force dominates. One of the reasons why Hades (Pluto) is still the absolute Lord of the underworld.
No matter how incredible, today technological advances, we failed to “manage” the explosions of Nature such as earthquakes, tsunamis, like for example now, the flooding across Europe and Russia. The tsunami of March 2011 in Japan, with the subsequent explosion of the nuclear power plant, occurred on the day that Uranus entered Aries, already in orb of the square to Pluto in Capricorn. The first time it happened in 2010, it coincided with the explosion of the BP oil plant that caused the disaster of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The new moon in Cancer reminds us that to feel safe we must be in the “right place”, i.e. that space, whether physical, mental, or virtual, which we call “home”. If for some reason we are not in that “place” then we will feel a great internal uneasiness, that will guide us to get up and go out to look for it. Cancer looks for that “place” eternally, which is rarely next to someone, but rather in an inner zone where our soul, our spirit and our body, are one. It is so elusive, that it may last seconds, yet it gives Cancer a sense of peace and security.
Cancer looks for it in creativity, being in dance, in painting, photography, writing, music.
When Cancer does not find it or unconsciously senses that is not in the right place, a serie of physical reactions, such as allergies, asthma, can affect their body. Never mind how much we look for it outside of us, this is really an internal place of union with the ineffable, with a personal inner calling. Cancer being the opposite sign of Capricorn, need to express themselves professionally. Capricorn for social reasons and Cancer for personal reasons. Children are the most precious possession for Cancer and ” caring for others” is one of the ways that Cancer uses to find themselves in “that place”. Let us not forget that the 5th House is the second from the 4th. Many Cancerians, are denied the possibility of having children, and therefore “care” for others, one way or another. Caring and nourishing are actions related to Cancer.
Jupiter, Ceres and Venus are in conjunction in Gemini, so the desire to move around our closest environment, to move to move to new places, will be reinforced by this new moon. If we find ourselves “tied up” to a situation and place that no longer nourishes us spiritually, we must think what to do about it. Use the energies of this moon to ask yourself if you’re in the right place and if this has something to do with the way you feel. Even if we cannot make the move to a new place, we can still do it from the depths of our soul. The key question in this lunation is: AM I IN THE RIGHT PLACE?
